Azura and SHIELD NC
Since January 2022, Azura owner, Jennie Kowaleski, PA-C has served as the board president for SHIELD NC, bringing her exceptional servant leadership skills to the organization alongside her time. “We are grateful for Jennie’s leadership and dedication as board president. Her efforts have made a lasting impact on the organization’s mission of combating human trafficking in North Carolina. Jennie’s determination and passion to make this world a better place are an inspiration,” shares Niki Miller, Operations Specialist, SHIELD NC.
Azura’s Why
Jennie believes we all have a voice that can be used to lift others up when they are unable to do so for themselves. She knows community involvement and inclusion are essential to make an impactful change and she uses every resource available to help make that change.
Azura serves as sponsors for multiple events and galas throughout the year supporting nonprofits such as SHIELD NC, Desgined for Joy, Horse & Buddy, Western Wake Crisis Ministry, 3 Bluebirds Farm, North Carolina Ducks Unlimited, and more.

Recent Events
Annual BOO-Tox Party Benefitting Western Wake Crisis Ministry
Each year in October Azura hosts its Annual Boo-Tox Party where they “fill the counter to fill their cabinets.” Clients are asked to bring in a minimum of five cans of food or non-perishable items for Western Wake Crisis Ministry to receive discounted services. The fan-favorite event always impacts a striking visual cue to visitors at Azura of just how easy it is for the community to come together and create a bigger lift together than what’s often possible individually.
Designed for Joy Porch Party
On Thursday, June 22, 2023, Azura hosted a Designed for Joy Porch Party at Azura Skin Care Center. Guests were invited to Azura to shop Designed for Joy’s gorgeous leather bags and jewelry. Designed for Joy is a transitional work experience for women emerging from trafficking, homelessness, time in prison, and other vulverable situations.
