How much time will I peel from a chemical peel?
Each person varies but it can be anywhere from one to seven days for a moderate chemical peel. Days three and four are usually when the peak of the peeling occurs.
Does microneedling hurt?
The feeling associated with microneedling is similar to a light sandpaper being moved across the skin. The procedure takes 15-45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. We also apply a topical numbing agent 30 minutes prior to your treatment to lessen the discomfort.
How many treatments do I need for laser hair reduction?
We recommend anywhere from three to eight treatments on average depending on the area. You can only permanently reduce hair in the anagen (active) phase of hair growth and only a small percent of hairs are active at any given time. Your treatments will be spaced out every four-to-twelve weeks depending on what area we are treating.
What is the difference between BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®?
BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® (the FDA-approved neurotoxins in the US) are used to relax a muscle and diminish movement. This, in turn, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
All of these products work and they are all botulism toxin type A products. They are all produced by different manufacturers but are all brands of products, there are no generics. You cannot go wrong with any of these products but our talented team can help you choose which one is right for your skin and budget.
When do you choose BOTOX® and when do you choose a dermal filler?
BOTOX® is used to relax a muscle and diminish movement. It limits your motion and gives you a softer appearance. Dermal fillers are different in that they do not interfere with muscle movement but rather they create volume in an area of depletion or in an area where you would like enhancement. They “fill up” space with a smooth natural look giving a more contoured appearance.
What do I need to avoid prior to injectables?
Before your treatment, you should avoid medications that can increase your bruise potential such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen (brands are Motrin/Advil), Aleve, Excedrin, fish oil, and Vitamin E. You can pretreat and lessen the risk of bruising with Arnica and real pineapple juice.
What is a Medical Spa?
The treatments at a medical spa are considered medical grade and must be staffed by experienced medical providers such as doctors and Physician Assistants. Medical Spas use medical devices such as lasers to treat various skin conditions, as well as injectable treatments.
