So, you have just received your COVID-19 vaccine. Great, one step further to getting this thing under control. You are thinking about upcoming travel plans, dinners, and getting to enjoy some time out of quarantine. You want to look your best and you are excited to come back to Azura. ???? First off, we missed you! Second, you may have questions about injectables and vaccine timing. When can you come in if you have received the vaccine? We have broken things down by treatment to make it easy for you!
Fillers
If you are scheduling an appointment for a filler, we are recommending to wait at least two weeks before or after your vaccine to schedule your filler appointment. This actually applies to any vaccine including the flu, shingles, pneumonia, and COVID-19 vaccines so this is more of a reminder 🙂
Fillers offered at Azura Skin Care Center include Restylane®, JUVÉDERM®, Revanesse® Versa™, RADIESSE®, and Revance Teoxane RHA.
BOTOX®, Dysport®, and XEOMIN®
Unlike fillers, you are able to receive BOTOX®, Dysport®, or XEOMIN® before or after your vaccine. The two do not appear to have an effect on one another.
Which Injectable Treatment is Right For You?
Now that we have gone over the timing of the treatments, it is time to decide which one is right for you. First, it is important to know that when it comes to fillers for the face, there is no “one size fits all”.
Just like there is no one tool in the garage that fixes every home repair, there is no one filler in our aesthetic workshop that can conquer all needs. Some fillers help to smooth very fine lines and wrinkles while others aid in providing lift and replenish deep volume loss.
When it comes to choosing between BOTOX® and a dermal filler, both are injectable options to help the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the face, but each is very different. One works on the movement of a muscle and the other is more about replenishing volume.
BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® (three FDA approved neurotoxins in the US) are used to relax a muscle and diminish movement. This, in turn, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When looking in the mirror, you may notice minimal lines or deep lines at rest. These lines can become more prominent with movement, such as with lifting your eyebrows, furrowing the area between the brows or around the eyes with smiling.
Dermal fillers are different in that they do not interfere with muscle movement but rather they create volume in an area of depletion or in an area where you would like enhancement. They “fill up” space with a smooth natural look giving a more contoured appearance. Fillers are popular in the lips, the nasolabial folds, the under eyes, and in the cheeks to give a “liquid facelift” appearance.
