It’s officially summer! This means trips to the pool and to the beach are in order. As you pack your bags, are you packing your sunscreen? The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that you wear it every day if you are going to be outside. This means wearing sunscreen even on those cloudy beach days! Having trouble deciding which sunscreen to invest in this summer? Don’t worry, the Azura team can help!
What to Look for in a Sunscreen
You want to make sure you choose a broad spectrum sunscreen. This helps to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Choosing a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher protects your skin from UVB rays. Dermatologists also recommend looking for “water resistant” on the label.
Who Needs Sunscreen?
Everyone! Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Anyone can get it regardless of age, gender, or race.
Will My Sunscreen Work From Last Year?
If you are applying sunscreen daily you should not have any left over from last year. If you do, check for the expiration date. If the date has passed, throw it out!
