- Meets all education and training requirements for his or her specialty
- Is board-certified and recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
- Only performs the procedures he or she has been trained in
- Is known to be reputable, ethical, and knowledgeable
- Is performing procedures in a facility that conforms to strict safety standards
