When it comes to your body, you do not wait until something is very wrong to go to the doctor. You get regular checkups, you take vitamins, you exercise, you drink water—you do all of these things to try to prevent a major health-related issue in the future. So why do you not treat your skin the same way? At Azura Skin Care Center, we always preach to our clients, especially those who are in their late 20s to early 30s, about the importance of prevention.
What Do We Mean by Prevention?
Prevention is the action of stopping something from happening. Correction is the act of improving on something that needs to be fixed. It is important to take care of your skin in the early years so you do not have to do so much repair later in life. The better you take care of your skin while you are younger, the less you will have to do as you age. You should not wait until your skin has deep wrinkles or sunspots to start treatments. When you start seeing fine lines or uneven skin tone, make your appointment. Here are a few of the treatments that we recommend for preventative care.
Please note that everyone’s skin is different. We would love for you to schedule a consultation with us so we can put together a treatment plan that is just right for you.
Sun Protection
Sunscreen is not just for the summer. You should be wearing at least SPF 15 every single day. The good news is, there are many products out there that are made specifically for your face. Many makeup brands contain at least SPF 15. We carry skinbetter®’s compact that offers SPF 56 or SPF 68.
When you are going to be in the sun, you want to make sure you choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen. This helps to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Choosing a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher protects your skin from UVB rays. Dermatologists also recommend looking for “water-resistant” on the label.
At Azura, we trust our skin to EltaMD® and skinbetter®.
Med Spa Facial Treatments
All of our med spa facials are customized to accommodate your current skin care needs but with any of these treatments, you can expect cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and hydration. Facials are a staple to good skin health and ours will leave you with more hydrated, youthful-looking skin. By seeing your aesthetician regularly for facials, you are investing in your skin, which is always going to help.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a procedure of mechanical exfoliation of unwanted dead skin cells that essentially “sands your skin”. This is through a minimally abrasive procedure with little to no downtime. The benefits of microdermabrasion are smoother skin, lessening the visualization of fine lines and larger pore size, lessen uneven pigments, and provide a more healthy, fresh appearance to the skin overall. It is safe to use on all skin types and body surfaces!
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a comfortable, superficial exfoliating treatment that is easily performed in the office by an experienced aesthetician or provider. A blade and light touch is used to gently exfoliate the outermost surface of the skin while also removing fine facial hair commonly known as “peach fuzz”. This office procedure will provide the feel of smoother skin immediately, giving you a fresh skin appearance and you will notice makeup application will appear more natural.
BOTOX®
BOTOX® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows. BOTOX® will help to soften unwanted facial lines we tend to notice over time. When using BOTOX® on our older clients, we are doing corrective work which generally requires a significant amount of BOTOX®. For our clients who start using BOTOX® in their 20s, we are able to use less and see them less often. As they age, they will likely still need less treatments due to a decreased strength of the muscles.
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel is an in-office procedure that improves the appearance of the skin, commonly but not limited to, the face, neck, chest, and hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is generally smoother, brighter, and appears to show less fine lines and wrinkles.
BBL – BroadBand Light™ Therapy
Freckles, age spots, and rosacea tend to make clients feel like they look less radiant and older. With BBL™, they will be a thing of the past! The light energy delivered by BBL will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it clearer, smoother, vibrant, and younger-looking.
PRP
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments aim to improve and rejuvenate the texture and firmness of the skin. It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and can help diminish scars. PRP involves the use of your own platelets and fibrin. This stimulates tissue healing through your own high concentration of growth factors and cytokines.
